We often pay tribute to men for their hard work, but the animals who helped them are often forgotten.

Well, in Amélie-les-Bains, we honor them during Saint-Eloi's feast, the patron saint of muleteers. Around June 25, you will see mules adorned with pompoms and studded collars parading through the town to the sound of the Cobla (the traditional Catalan instrumental ensemble), accompanied by children in traditional costumes. The still-living tradition dictates that mules, children, and small breads, symbols of prosperity, receive the blessing of the town's priest in front of the church.
