At the heart of our region, nature shapes exceptional landscapes and is home to fragile biodiversity that must be preserved.
The Tech river, whose banks are classified as a Natura 2000 site, is a perfect example. A true ecological corridor, it is home to many species of fauna and flora that are sensitive to the quality of the environment.

Among the emblematic plant species are the white willow, white poplar, narrow-leaved ash and black alder, which contribute to the natural balance of the riverbanks. These wetlands are also a refuge for remarkable animal species such as the Pyrenean desman, the European otter and the brown trout, all of them are particulary vulnerable to human disturbance.
Amélie-les-Bains-Palalda is surrounded by vast natural spaces, forests, and mountains which are home to many endemic species. This exceptional setting is part of the area's identity. Preserving this natural environment means protecting the flora and fauna that make our destination so rich and beautiful.
