The furnished tourist accommodation classification: a guarantee of quality

As part of its local tourism development policy, the municipality of Amélie-les-Bains continues to develop its efforts to improve the quality of its offering, in particular by raising awareness among owners of furnished accommodation about the ‘furnished tourist accommodation’ classification.

A partnership established in 2014 between the Municipal Tourist Office and the Relais Départemental des Gîtes de France des Pyrénées-Orientales, a state-accredited body responsible for awarding star ratings, has enabled numerous apartments to be classified. Since then, these apartments have enjoyed the benefits of this classification, which is a true guarantee of quality: in addition to significant tax advantages, it allows property owners to stand out from the competition, gain visibility and benefit from increased promotion by local tourist institutions (Tourist Office, PO Tourist Development Agency, etc.).         

Accommodation is assessed on the basis of a set of criteria, the main areas of which are the level of comfort and facilities, the quality of service provided by the owner and their commitment to a sustainable development policy.

Once assigned, the classification is valid for 5 years.

Owners who would like to get involved in this initiative can register now with the Tourist Office.

From 1 January 2021, the municipality will cover 50% of the classification costs.
