Description

The roman church Saint-Martin is located in Palalda. The church is mentioned for the firts time in 967 in a donation for the abbey of Sainte-Marie of Arles-sur-Tech. Nervertheless the actual edifice was built during the XIII century. Only remain the nave, the oriental part having been rebuilt during the XV or XVI century. We keep a procession cross from the XVII century. The church has two altarpieces, the altarpiece of Saint-Martin (1661) and the altarpiece of the altar of Christ (XVIII century), both classified Monument Historique in 1957. The front door is as the old churches of Vallespir is decorated with numerous hinge strip of wrought iron.
